The spoils of the LSU Battle; Illinois is now among the ranked teams

Lots to talk about in the wake of Illinois’ series victory over (then) #1 LSU Tigers last weekend.  The Illini won Friday’s game and Sunday’s game both on the efforts of good starting pitching by Phil Haig and Ben Reeser respectively.

Illini take 2 of 3 from #1 LSU Tigers

After soundly defeating LSU 6-2 today, one has to wonder if Saturday’s 22-10 drubbing by the Tigers was just really bad dream.

LSU exacts revenge in 22-10 win over Illinois (but what a day for Willie Argo!)

Wow!  It was almost as if the #1 LSU Tigers offense was punishing the Illini for embarrassing them for Friday’s 3-1 win.  In a game that was a polar opposite of that contest, LSU defeated the Illini today in a 22-10 slugfest at the Alex Box Stadium in Baton Rouge, LA.

Haig, Johnson take #1 LSU down a notch

Woo hoo!
If only I was there at Alex Box Stadium tonight!  Illinois defeated the #1 LSU Tigers in a nailbiter 3-1.  Tonight’s game was the first of three games this weekend and the Illini got off to a great start, showing that they can win against ANY team.
