Mike Altobelli sends this photo along of his son Dominic Altobelli.  Dom, a former Illini thirdbaseman who was picked this year’s MLB draft has been playing for the Casper (Wyo.) Ghosts all year.  The Ghosts are an Advanced Rookie affiliate of the Rockies in the Pioneer League.

Dominic Altobelli is on a roll now in the minors.  Playing for the Casper Ghosts in the Rookie League, he has a 11 game hit streak going back July 1.  According to his father Mike, Dom’s manager is trying him out at 2B just to keep him in the lineup.

Bonadonna:  Bound for Rookie League
As of today, four Illinois draftees have signed pro contracts with their respective teams.  Big Ten Network has the info.
Brandon Wikoff has signed with the Astros and will report to single-A Tri-City Valley Cats in the New York-Penn League.  He’ll start June 23.

I really thought we had them.  Going into the bottom of the sixth, we had a three-run lead.  But then again, this was Ohio State and we all know about their offense.  The Bucks scored two runs in each of the last three innings to defeat Illinois 7-4.
