Illinois Baseball fall season is almost upon us!

Illinois baseball has been busy practicing the past few weeks. Starting this week, they will begin playing their brief Fall 2022 season.

Here is the current schedule (as always, subject to change):

  • September 23 6pm: UIS
  • September 27 6pm: GLC
  • October 2 12pm: Indiana State

I was able to get out to see the guys practice a couple times last week and get some photos. Both days provided beautiful weather and personally, it was great to be back at Illinois Field again.

As usual for the fall, it was a good opportunity to see the freshmen and new transfers so I’m a little familiar with them before next spring.  By the way, many thanks to Ty Rybarczyk and Danny Doligale for pointing out some of the new guys and even introducing me to a few.

New Baseball Director of Operations

Last week, I was able to meet Illinois Baseball’s new Director of Operations, Allyson O’Herron.

Allyson is already quite busy now.  It seems there is nothing she won’t do to help the program.  As I met her, she was fixing the home dugout camera.  She and I chatted for a good ten minutes.

I think she will work out just fine and I hope that this is a step forward for the program itself.

I will unfortunately miss the September 23rd game as I will be out of town.  I will see you at the ballpark at the other games!
