Last week, FightingIllini.com announced that Illinois pitcher Aidan Maldonado was ranked #77 among draft prospects by Baseball America. Add that to another honor for the sophomore right-hander.
Maldonado’s 2020 season was cut short by Covid-19, of course. He showed signs of continuing his success. In his 2019 season with the Falmouth Commodores, he struck out 30 batters in 17 1/3 innings while contributing a 2-1 record and a 3.11 ERA. Considered a starter for the Illini at the beginning of the 2020 season, he started out with a 1-2 record before the season was called short.
