Illinois Baseball can boast two freshman who are named to Baseball America’s Top 50 Freshman list. Let’s take a look at them.
C Jacob Campbell
At #25, Jacob Campbell is the top frosh in the Big Ten and the second in the country.
Campbell hails from Janesville, WI and was drafted in the 36th round by the Cubs in the 2018 MLB draft. Jacob decided to give Illinois a shot and we’re glad he did!

RHP Aidan Maldonado
Righthanded pitcher Aidan Maldonado checks in with Baseball America at #49.
Aidan will be wearing jersey #41 during the regular season; his jersey wasn’t quite ready for the Orange and Blue World Series. He also was drafted in the 2018 MLB draft. The Brewers chose the Rosemont native in the 38th round.
