Casey Crosby: The one that got away

Mlive.com has a good piece on Casey Crosby.  For those Illini fans who tried to forget, Crosby was the Illini baseball recruit who got drafted in the fifth round in 2007 and took the money and ran.  Not that blame him… it was a whopping $750,000 signing bonus that lured him to Detroit.

Essentially, 6’5” lefthander Crosby has turned into the Tigers’ uber-prospect that they won’t let go for anybody.  If you follow the pros, he’s someone to  watch.

Crosby has been pitching for the West Michigan Whitecaps at the Class A Midwest League this year.  So far this season, he’s 9-4 with a 2.61 ERA.  He’s racked up 112 strikeouts in 96 2/3 innings.
