Illini coming home after Frisco Classic puts them on the map

Let me say that I am very proud of our Illini baseball team. What a great showing in the Frisco Classic! In the fifth inning of the third game, they were only two runs from sweeping three nationally ranked teams.

Illini pitching held their opponents to four runs for the first 22 innings of the Frisco Classic.

Because of their performance, Illinois is now receiving votes in national polls.

The Illini pitching really came through on Friday against #13 Texas A&M. Pretty amazing considering that the Aggies came into the game scoring 11+ runs per game. Starter Ty Weber was on his game and relievers Ryan Kutt and Garrett Acton did their thing. It was Kutt (1-0) who got the win and Acton earned his first save.

The offense got the one run they needed thanks to hot-hitting Branden Comia who drove home Taylor Jackson in the 8th inning.

Comia continued to hit with a double and homer. Kellen Sarver put the game out of reach with an rbi double in the 8th scoring Comia.

The four hits belong to Comia, Sarver, Danny Doligale, and Jacob Campbell.
