MLB Draft: Taylor picked by Cubs in round 25!

Zac Taylor

25th round – 762nd overall

Chicago Cubs

In today’s MLB Draft, outfielder Zac Taylor became the third Illini chosen in as many rounds. He was picked by the Chicago Cubs in the 25th round (762nd overall).

In my opinion, senior outfielder Taylor is a great deal for the Cubs organization. Zac has plenty of tools he can bring to the table. Leading the Big Ten inn steals, he has obvious good speed. He provides a good combination of average (.321) and power (10 homeruns).

Taylor always manages to be in the mix. Even when he hit .226 in 2018, he still managed to score 41 runs and drive home 37 runs.

In addition, Taylor carries a good glove to his position in center field. As a Cubs fan, I personally am glad to see the team pick up such talent.

Congrats, Zac!
