MLB Draft: Sefcik taken by Reds in 24th round!

One round after Cyrillo Watson was picked in the MLB Draft, his set-up man Quinten Sefcik was chosen. Sefcik, a senior hurler was picked by the Cincinnati Reds organization in the 24th round and 714th overall.

Sefcik has played a steady role as the spot starter and setup reliever. He finishes his Illinois career with 95 strikeouts, a 4.15 ERA and a 6-5 record.

A product of Carmel Catholic HS, Quinten was key in the past two seasons in keeping the Illini in the game till the late innings. His Opponents Batting Average Against dipped to .208 in 2019.
