Yalo, freshmen give Illini a boost in Fall game vs. EIU 13-12

Illinois baseball defeated the Eastern Illinois Panthers 13-12 on Wednesday night in a marathon 14-inning affair. It wasn’t technically an extra-inning game; Illinois had the lead 8-7 after nine regulation innings.  Coach Dan Hartleb and EIU head coach Jason Anderson who was a star Illini pitcher in his college days, decided to play a full 14 innings.

The Illini had to work for their win.  EIU got out to a 8-2 lead by the 7th inning.  Thanks to Jack Yalowitz who contributed two homeruns and a triple, the Illini were able to get back into the game and emerge as victors.

Two freshman played a part in the win.  Branden Comia (above left) drove home two runs in the 10th inning then Jacob Campbell drove him home tying the game.
