This summer, Illinois Field will be getting a makeover.
It’s been over twelve years since the field received its first installment of Field Turf in February 2008. You can see some photos of the 2008 installation here. Before that, Illinois was covered in grass and dirt.
Now, it will be time to “roll out the carpet” again according to FightingIllinois.com. Installation will take place during the summer break.
According to FightingIllini.com:
The turf will be brown where a traditional dirt infield lays with green stripes throughout the infield and outfield. An orange Illinois wordmark will be showcased behind home plate.
