For their second Fall season game this year, Illinois baseball will be hosting the Indiana State Sycamores this Saturday.

Heads up, though. The matchup has been rescheduled for noon most likely to accommodate the Illinois football game in Purdue.

Earlier this month, the 2023-24 squad took on the Eastern Illinois Panthers for a 14-inning affair.

Here is a link to the gallery from the game on September 14th.

Cam in uniform?

You’ll see a few photos of Cam McDonald on the field in uniform. What gives? Cam says he going to stay with the UI baseball team to assist with player development.

There’s no one better suited to do that in my opinion. We’re happy to still have you, Cam!

Tonight’s the night for Roof’s Sod Poodles

Former Illini Shawn Roof (2004-2007) is a manager of a Double-A minor league team. Tonight, his Amarillo Sod Poodles have a chance to win the Texas League championship. Having already won the Texas League South Division, the Soddies are facing the Arkansas Travelers and they are knotted up at one game apiece. The winner takes all!

Courtesy of the Amarillo Globe-News, here are Shawn’s thoughts going into the deciding game

Shawn Roof is a legend in Illinois baseball and still holds a few team records the last I checked. He was also the first player I talked to when I started this website. I’ll certainly be keeping an eye on this game.

Good luck, #44!
