It’s Birthday time for Illini baseball players!  Today, on August 3, four former Illini will celebrate birthdays. 
Happy Birthday to Ryan Hastings, Ty Milner, Shawn Roof and Scott Shaw.  Milner and Shaw were even born on the exact day. 
So if you know any of these guys, wish them a good one!!

Scott Shaw CG’s Lakeland in Florida State League

Former Illini Scott Shaw gave his St Lucie Mets a needed boost Saturday.  Not only are the his Class A Affiliate Mets languishing in last place in the Florida State League but they were coming off a five game losing streak.

It came out today that Illinois CF Kyle Hudson who went early, the fourth round, has reached a contract agreement with the Baltimore Orioles.  He plans to play for their Class A team in Aberdeen, MD by next week.

Illinois Twice-Boiled by Purdue but at least they’re Ann Arbor-bound

There’s good news and bad news.  Well, the good news is the Illini are going to the Big Ten tournament and we have Indiana to thank for that.  The Hoosiers swept the Michigan State Spartans in Friday’s doubleheader and thereby eliminating them from tournament qualification.

Michigan takes the wind out of Illinois’ sails

Michigan defeated Illinois tonight 9-5.

I shot this as I was walking to the stadium.  The flags are located at direct centerfield.  I could tell right away we were going to have a slugfest.

Some Michigan ballplayers were spotted outside the stadium during batting practice to flag down the balls that got hit out.
