On Monday, Illini recruit Charlie Tilson finally made his decision and he chose to sign with the St Louis Cardinals who drafted him in this year’s MLB draft.  It might not have been an easy decision to make but the $1.275 million may have helped the 79th round outfielder make that decision a little easier. Seems second time is better for former Illini outfielder Kyle Hudson… at least when it comes to Triple-A.  The first time Hudson (left during his Illinois days) was promoted to the Baltimore Oriole AAA affiliate Norfolk Tides, he could only muster a .197 average.  This time he’s hitting .373 with the Tides. There was a nice feature article about Josh Parr in his hometown paper, the Chillicothe Times-Bulletin today. Former Illini Parr, who was drafted by the Arizona Diamondbacks this summer, is now playing for the Class A Missoula Osprey.  So far, he’s done well, playing every day and hitting .292. Former Illini hurler Scott Shaw was named American Association Pitcher of the Week on Monday.  Shaw, who pitches for the Gary SouthShore RailCats (he’s teammate of another former Illini Mike Rohde), not only threw a three-hit shutout but did it against the reigning league champion Shreveport-Bossier Captains.
