Illinois baseball Week 1: News bits and pieces

I’m sure we Illini baseball fans are not given in to schadenfreude.  If we were, however, we would pleased to know that because of Illinois’ 9-4 defeat of St John’s on Sunday, the Red Storm have been knocked out of the national rankings

But I’m sure we don’t have that kind of nasty attitude.

orangebluewed 036The Kravetz’ have better make some room on their mantle.  Illini freshman pitcher John Kravetz (left) keeps racking up the awards thanks to his 6 2/3 innings shutout ball against St John’s.  In addition to the Big Ten Co-Freshman Player of the Week award, Kravetz was recognized with a College Baseball 360 Primetime Pitcher of the Week honor

Not only that, he was also named College Baseball Insider’s Central Region’s Pitcher of the Week.

Congrats, John!
