Shawn Roof hustling in AA

Former Illinois SS Shawn Roof is really hitting the ball lately in the minors.  After starting out with the Lakeland Flying Tigers, he advanced to AA earlier this year and is playing for the Erie Seawolves.

Since then, he’s really come on.  He went 4 for 5 with two triples in Tuesday’s game against the Altoona Curve (by the way, if you ever wanted to know, this is where Altoona’s minor league team got their nickname).

Roof is on a hot streak now.  In the last 10 games, he’s gone 15 for 39 for a nifty .385 average.  Since he’s joined Erie, he’s hit .348 with a nice .432 OBP.

Shawn has been a good friend of the Illinois Baseball Report and frequently checks in to see how the Illini are doing during the college season.   Personally, I’ve always been a big fan of Shawn and am thrilled to see him doing so well.
