Once again, Illini starting pitching rolled over the opposition at the Al Ogletree Classic, this time the Stephen F Austin ‘Jacks. Aaron Martin got the start today and for the second game in a row, the Illini starter did not give up an earned run. Martin pitched 8 solid innings giving up only 5 hits [...]

Nevertheless, Phil Haig is perhaps proving that his start in the "Challenge" last weekend may not be a fluke just like his two-hit shutout against Purdue in the last regular season series last year may not have been one either.
Tonight in the Lone Star State with the Illini facing University of Texas Pan-American, Haig continued [...]

That’s the home of the University of Texas Pan American Broncs who are currently 0-4 this season. Don’t make fun though. UTPA was the home field of Al Ogletree [...]

Illinois Baseball lost Saturday night against Notre Dame but rebounded versus West Virginia today to conclude the BIG EAST/Big Ten Challenge down in Florida. I think it would be safe to say that both games were slugfests.
Notre Dame on Saturday
Illinois had a chance to win it against the Fighting Irish. They were up by scores [...]

Down 2-1 in the sixth, the Illini came back to score five runs thanks in part to three Iowa fielding miscues. Iowa never really recovered after [...]

It’s opening day for the Illini which means they’re someplace warm, in this case, Clearwater, Florida. What’s different this year is that tonight, they are opening up against a Big Ten team, Iowa. My guess? They’re making up for lost time. They didn’t play the Hawkeyes all last year.
